So… the FLV converter that DreamHost provides is cool, but it’s really really shitty quality. I’ve decided to convert the videos myself, so that all of you can enjoy them in high quality. Compare the two and let me know what you think.

For your reference - this video is 28MB, the other one is 20MB.

So yes… I’ve been neglecting this site… It seems Dreamhost had a bit of a hiccup with one of their switches a couple of days ago, so if you couldn’t see the site, that’s why.

In the process of looking up that information, I found out some pretty funny information about my hosting. The server that does the PHP is called ‘ritz”, and the server that does my MySQL is called “tramp”. I guess you could say my hosting package should be called “The tramp on the ritz”.

Anyways… I’m halfway done my exams. That’s the main reason why I haven’t written much here lately. I’ve got 8 in total. The 4 so far have been alright - I just need to pass everything to get through this term, and thereby my degree. Wish me luck…

I had always been of the impression that 1GB of RAM was plenty for my purposes. I do multi-task on my computer, but not to any crazy degree.

NCIX had a sale on 1GB DDR-667 SODIMM RAM - $65!!! That’s more than half off! I jumped on the gun and got two.

Needless to say, the performance speaks for itself. Things open faster, close faster, and my computer just never pages anything. Needless to say - I love it. I’ve also read that there is an even more significant performance boost between 1GB and 2GB when running Vista.
